It was certainly not a hard-core track test with really hard berm hits or big jumps. The KTM may be capable of leaping tall buildings in a single bound, but this test rider is not. I traded my YZF for an EXC. In a short drag race, your YZF450 will probably beat either the 525 or 450 EXCs. Both the KTMs have much higher top end due the extra gear. The 525 has a lot of torque compared to either of the 450s. You can lug the 525 in situations that either of the 450s will cut out.
The 450 EXC's new, lighter, cast aluminium swingarm accommodates the shock absorber more centrally, in order to load the swing arms more evenly. The new, 7 mm (0.28 in) longer PDS shock absorber with adjustable rebound and high/low-speed compression damping, and a new setting is installed more flatly, so providing even more progression.
ktm450awyeah. 5557 posts · Joined 2009. #11 · Jul 18, 2009. when you taken the forks off and emptied them make sure you turn them upside down and milk them like a cow to empty them completely because small amounts of the old oil will contaminate the new oil and will deteriorate the performance significantly. you can buy a fork oil height tool
