Just to clarify, what are you calling the check engine light? You should be seeing an icon of a jug pouring a liquid in the instrument cluster. If you see a wrench at the same time, it indicates a problem with the AdBlue/DEF system. Most likely cause is they neglected to refill DEF at the last service. 1.5 gallons = 5.7 liters. 5 gallons = 20

I'm curious if the Q5 3.0 TDI has the two-tank system for AdBlue. The ETKA entry for the Q7 does, in fact, show the "passive" (next to the diesel tank) and "active" (sort of wrapped around up by the filler ports) tanks, but the ETKA entry for the Q5 shows only one tank, located down by the diesel fuel tank.
D Battery-Check for clean terminals (no corrosion), properly mounted housing and no damage; replace if necessary. Also, check the acid level of battery only if the level can be seen through the housing and fill if necessary (except Audi QS hybrid) D Charging socket Check for damage and make sure the socket is dry (Audi A3 e-tron only)
Many thanks Colin. Good point, and one which we have promoted as a ‘first port of call’ for all warning light issues. One point I would add is that although recharging the battery will probably sort the issue, that resolution maybe relatively short lived, and indicative of a failing below par battery, which needs renewing - or at least subjecting to an efficiency check.
