Not really. Its almost exactly the same game with some new zombies, a new character and new locations. It runs and looks almost identical. Dead Island 1 seems stronger for having a better starting area and being longer, though IMO if you like Dead Island you will probably like Riptide. If you like co-op in Dead Island make sure you play this then.

To say Dying Light was better is an understatement, certainly imho. I remember giving Dead Island a shot on my dad's XB360 and not thinking much of it at all, nm me usually loving zombie games etc, with L4D, Dead Space 1/2, Days Gone and various RE games etc all making gold status for me.
