People complain all the time that VR doesn't have story games. Some people don't like games where you're truly challenged and have to self-motivate to keep re-playing and trying to get better and reach a high score or complete a difficult final stage in a rougelite style level progression.
Half life Alyx isn’t THAT big in terms of production cost. It isn’t open world, had far less developer working on it („just“ 80), has less dialogue (less voice actors) and is only available with English voices so far. So the budget of Alyx might be something like 20-25M at most. They are selling the game for 60$.
